Cartier is one of the most exquisite jewellers in the world. Cartier Jewellers was originally founded in 1847 by Louis François Cartier, and quickly earned its reputation as ‘The Jeweler of Kings, the King among Jewelers’. Today, Cartier is still a favourite amongst royalty, celebrities and classy fashionistas alike. If you’re wondering why they’re known as the royal jewellers and how much they cost, keep reading!
The Cartier Love Bracelet is regarded as a classic collection for both women and men. This iconic bracelet was created in 1969 by Italian jeweller, Aldo Cipullo, and it was in fact his very first design for Cartier. It is oval-shaped, ensuring that it fits as closely as possible to the wearer and must be removed with the assistance of a special screwdriver. The Love bracelet was inspired by the chastity belt with the idea that “love symbols should suggest an everlasting quality.”
Juste un Clou de Cartier was created shortly after the Love bracelet in 1971 but was back by popular demand in 2012. This is telling of its timeless style–we think this piece is quite worth it.
The bracelet is another Aldo Cipullo design. He dubbed it ‘Juste un Clou’, which is French for ‘Just a nail’-- we’re sure you can tell why. Cipullo is an ingenious designer who draws inspiration from the minute details of the world around him.
Panthère de Cartier Ring
Panthère de Cartier Ring with Gold, Diamonds, Emeralds and Onyx:
White Gold: R386 000
Yellow & Rose Gold: R360 000
If you ask us, it’s a small price to pay for looking lavish and sophisticated. Panthere de Cartier items are absolutely essential for an exquisite jewellery collection. The first panther jewellery was made in 1935 by designer Jeanne Toussaint, “La Panthere” herself–French for ‘The Panther’. Toussaint’s title emanates from her bold personality and feminine style which enticed Cartier. She was unafraid to include patterns in her jewellery. The Panthere rings were designed to look like the head of a panther and are adorned with onyxes for the panther’s spots and emeralds for their sharp eyes.
Classic Trinity Ring with White, Yellow and Rose Gold: R22 000
Can’t decide which type of metal you prefer? The trinity ring is the best of all three worlds. The ring consists of white gold, yellow gold and rose gold, originally designed in 1924, and commissioned by a French artist, writer, poet, and filmmaker, Jean Cocteau. Today, it is a brand classic and one of their most coveted collections. According to Cartier, each band represents the stages of a romantic relationship with white gold for friendship, yellow gold for fidelity and rose god for true love.
Although the ring is the first of the collection, today it is available in earrings, bracelets necklaces and the like. Additionally, the trinity collection is available in other metals and diamonds as well. It is the true definition of timeless.
