Celebrating Women’s Month with Pro Makeup Artist and Influencer Areeba Baker

In the fourth and last part of our Women’s Month series, we collaborated with modest blogger, pro-makeup artist and influencer, Areeba Baker. Areeba’s modest outfit looks have made her account popular on Instagram (@areebaartistry) and her “turban tutorials”, and makeup look videos are viewed and enjoyed by many.     Areeba also works as a social media specialist for various well-known makeup brands and has established herself in the creative industry after collaborating with brands like NYX, Urban Decay, Essence, Revlon and more. Her views on makeup are valued by her followers who consider her a trusted source for makeup and skincare related product reviews.  

Chatting about Women's Month with Areeba

We wanted to find out a little bit more about Areeba and how she feels about Women’s Month. Areeba believes that by acknowledging and celebrating Women’s Month, we are given an opportunity to create more awareness around the issues that women face on a daily basis. She also feels that this month provides us with the chance to celebrate everything that women have accomplished and keep accomplishing on a regularly. According to Areeba, she finds inspiration to continue her work in media from different places every day. She is inspired by her surroundings and her family and friends. She is also inspired by her work as it is something she is thoroughly passionate about and it allows her to meet new people all the time.

Areeba wishes to inspire other young women to be comfortable in their own skin. While promoting makeup, she makes sure to post a few “makeup free” images to show her following that you need to be proud of who you are; that your true worth doesn’t need to be defined by the makeup on your face or the clothes you wear. Areeba is a strong believer of women supporting one another. She encourages women to support their friends’ businesses, whether by purchasing items or providing positive reviews and encouragement on social media. Areeba feels that she is an empowered woman because she is comfortable with who she is and encourages those around her to be the same. Areeba is also a part of an organisation called Women for Women SA that focuses on providing support for disadvantaged women across South Africa.   When asked which designer item she hopes of owning one day, Areeba’s response was that she can see herself carrying a Chanel Flap Bag one day, and we agree! We can’t wait to see where Areeba’s journey will take her next!
