Fratelli Prada included leather goods, bags, and steamer trunks.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1919, Prada was awarded the title of Official Supplier of the Italian Royal House. This prestigious distinction allowed Prada to display the House of Savoy coat of arms and knotted rope design in its trademark logo. This honour is what makes Prada a symbol of the Italian aristocracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Passing The Prada Legacy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/luxity.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/QBd8KqNvWwkakkeKj-KBHZQLPFkMXnar1Gz6e5x7X0XfeX_CJxEeIHms0o-VleCnh6jgxV-vJaRJc9AI_QljIQiF5Al4fE2DGymKTo2IuwPPWRyfM9cltVl_w-bpUyPSHi_MuXXH0vLF1y4StZjm8ow.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As was customary at the time, Mario Prada passed the business down to his son. Ironically, his only son had no interest in the family business. However, his daughter Luisa Prada was willing to take over the family business as Mario\u2019s successor and ran it for almost twenty years before handing it over to her daughter, Miuccia.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Expanding The Business &amp; The Family<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/luxity.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/YPmoiq1AwY_mQ53a7mly-ukgxOTU2mD2VowIQXyQGKiK9bECh3pVjLFdfwNwBmKHgEq4xZkEVhOEhQFGv0hBn7adjkm7Q83ncinpI3ZFXVwHvD9nUWZ27vqIzPD4xAOwJUV_Spc6d-lFgod3itUHSLk.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Miuccia initially devoted herself to designing accessories. But \u2018Fratelli Prada\u2019 changed forever when Miuccia met Patrizio Bertelli, a 24-year-old Italian leather good businessman. Bertelli convinced Miuccia that she should change her business model and focus on luxury luggage pieces.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also advised her to stop importing from England and instead source leather locally. That was a decisive point in the formation of Prada, the fashion as we know it today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prada Stores<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/luxity.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/hKsCjRumnVRDNKi8lpk1ys7ib0-BFoohCrQP5w1lX7I4qA-YjdDsPwzfGHN4hIeuRw0LpXlbTqJSCqrbvk2R2AECA3-9l4APqJ5foQnxQNITw6mUJW0su4kq1kuq_TPwRmrvCogq5FuWYx6Vz99znss.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Prada began to grow and gain attention. In 1983, Prada opened a second boutique in the centre of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in Milan&#8217;s shopping heart, on the site of the previous historic \u2018London House\u2019 emporium run by Felice Bellini from 1870 to the 1960s, reminiscent of the original shop, but with a sleek and modern contrast to it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prada expanded its network of directly-owned stores into markets all over the world.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lucky Colour Green<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/luxity.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/GBPIELFg83A86sq8rUqxU3akYG-ThzY1OdQ4o-lTZD7vqJ8pQYJ3Pxt8QVyudpfEocbERYCTzqwSu3T6P96MnuFXOve67qDGUQPvhaPzV9X1VwwV3bL9ccYKGHRYd9Cx6DChdEL55DYSsRxeuuL7ymM.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The stores were known for their clean aesthetic with a unique green hue. The colour soon was known as \u2018Prada Green\u2019. The first \u2018green store\u2019 opened in Milan in Via Della Spiga. Miu Miu catered to younger consumers, such as celebrities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1993, Miuccia Prada opened a subsidiary company called \u2018Miu Miu\u2019, which is also a pet name given to her by her family.
