After all, the only thing better than a high-fashion designer brand is two! Join us as we explore some of the best designer collaborations this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Fendi x Skims – November<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Kim Kardashian West’s shapewear and lingerie brand, Skims has unveiled a capsule collection in collaboration with the iconic Italian fashion house, Fendi<\/a>. The collection will only be launched on the 9th of November 2021 but we already know that it\u2019s going to be one for the books. The collection focuses on essential undergarments such as shapewear, hosiery, sportswear, beachwear, as well as accessories.<\/strong> But what\u2019s a high fashion designer collection without logomania? Each item is sprawled with Fendi x Skims monogram. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the collab also features a bonded leather dress in various skin tones and “draws upon Roman aesthetics to offer statuesque transformation,”<\/em> according to a Fendi press release. Each garment includes high-tech material that\u2019s designed to enhance your curves. <\/strong>Some of these materials include bonded leather, velvet engineered for support, reversible skin-tight jersey or recycled nylon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Fendi X Versace – September<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Another high fashion designer collaboration or \u2018swap\u2019 occurred just two months ago. Dubbed \u2018Fendace\u2019, the iconic collection merged signature elements of both fashion houses.<\/strong> According to the brands, Fendi’s Kim Jones and Donatella’s Versace<\/a> traded roles. The collection was therefore split in two: Jones took over the first section of Versace-centric pieces while Donatella oversaw the second selection of Fendi-focused fashion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the glorious fusion of fashion and accessories, the runway also included some of the most famous models of the past three decades such as Naomi Campbell, Amber Valetta and Kate Moss to name a few. This, of course, was to pay homage to Gianni Versace – the man who invented supermodels. While the numerous Baguette bags were meant to honour Silvia Venturini Fendi, the inventor of the ‘It-bag’ back in the 1990\u2019s. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Dior x PSG Football Club – August<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Lionel Messi leaving Barcelona for PSG (Paris Saint-Germain) isn\u2019t the only big news that put the French team on the map.<\/strong> In August, Dior<\/a> announced that they\u2019ve signed a two-year contract with PSG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first instalment is led by Dior\u2019s director of men\u2019s collections, Kim Jones, and consists of an array of ready-to-wear looks for on and off the field. In September, the club revealed a video displaying the stunning formal collection worn by Neymar Jr., Sergio Ramos and Marco Verratti to name a few. \u201cThe formal outfit pairs a cashmere coat, a jacket, a shirt and pants, and a pair of black leather Dior timeless cap-toe derbies,\u201d<\/em> Dior said of the formal outfits they put together for the team. \u201cThe pieces are enhanced by other subtle details, reflecting Dior\u2019s savoir-faire excellence.\u201d <\/em>Some of the most memorable items are the Dior\u2019s classic Saddle bag, cashmere scarves, reversible black-and-navy blue belts, jacquard ties sporting the Paris Saint-Germain logo and lastly, each team member has embossed insoles with their unique jersey number. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Louis Vuitton X NBA – May<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The French Luxury company first announced their partnership with the NBA (National Basketball Association) back in January 2020. The duo has since created luxury trophy travel cases, double-door wardrobe trunks (with Louis Vuitton\u2019s iconic monogram, of course), and a limited-edition capsule collection that includes leather goods, accessories and shoes. But it doesn\u2019t stop there: in May, Louis Vuitton<\/a> released the \u2018Louis Vuitton x NBA Capsule Collection II\u2019. According to the brand, this line is inspired by the three dress modes of basketball players which are travel, game, and press conference<\/strong> (casualwear, informal wear, and formalwear). Some of these include blousons and shirts which referenced the typeface of NBA teams and came with graphic multi-coloured letters spelling the luxury brand name, while the shorts were sprawled with the luxury house’s varsity-style logo. We\u2019re excited to see what else the duo will produce in their three-year partnership. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Gucci x Balenciaga – April<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Gucci and Balenciaga<\/a> are both highly coveted designer brands and earlier this year they collaborated! Well, sort of. The Kering-owned brands prefer to call it a ‘swap’ or ‘hack’ rather than a collaboration. Alessandro Michele explained, “Gucci becomes for me a hacking lab, made of incursions and metamorphoses… I have plundered the nonconformist rigour of Demna Gvasalia and the sexual tension of Tom Ford.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, for Gucci\u2019s 100th year anniversary, creative director Alessandro Michele hosted a runway titled \u2018Aria\u2019. The show mixed signature codes of both houses, most notably on a selection of co-branded, broad-shouldered blazers.<\/strong> There were also Balenciaga-emblazoned hourglass bags, high-rise boots, jewellery, and so much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regardless of whether it\u2019s called collaboration, hack, or swap – we\u2019re absolutely obsessed with this Gucciaga collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Gucci x Kai – April<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

K-pop has the world in a chokehold and Gucci is onboard. South Korean singer, Kim Jong-in, better known as Kai, announced his capsule collection in collaboration with the Italian fashion house in May, just after his two-year ambassadorship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stunning collection is inspired by the K-pop artist\u2019s childhood love for teddy bears.<\/strong> Led by Alessandro Michele, the ready-to-wear teddy bearing items include handbags, sneakers, T-shirts, hats and other luxury leather goods. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
