Here are some of our favourite ethical and sustainable luxury fashion brands to shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gucci<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/luxity.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Gucci-Off-The-Grid.jpg\" alt=\"Sustainable Gucci Bag\" data-id=\"71824\" data-full-url=\"https:\/\/luxity.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Gucci-Off-The-Grid.jpg\" data-link=\"https:\/\/luxity.co.za\/?attachment_id=71824\" class=\"wp-image-71824\"\/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Since Alessandro Michele has been introduced as <a href=\"https:\/\/luxity.co.za\/product-category\/brands\/gucci\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Gucci<\/span><\/a>\u2019s creative director, the label has been making positive changes that contribute to the industry&#8217;s responsibility towards the environment, celebrating mankind and innovation. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/equilibrium.gucci.com\/gucci-sustainability-strategy\/#:~:text=A%20ten%2Dyear%20sustainability%20plan,towards%20social%20and%20environmental%20sustainability.\">Gucci\u2019s 10-year plan<\/a><\/span> includes ethical practices and sustainable products along with other positive social transformations such as gender diversity and fair working environments to name a few.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The brand stated the following in a recent press release: &#8220;<em>Gucci believes that sustainability\u2014at all levels\u2014involves fostering this respect: respect for the people we share our planet with as well as for the environment. If we lighten our environmental footprint we can enjoy the world with greater freedom\u2014 the freedom to follow our dreams, with curiosity, openness and joy.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What\u2019s more, Gucci\u2019s parent company, Kering, is also pursuing several sustainable strategies including reducing its environmental footprint and choosing responsible and well-managed supply chains. Additionally, <strong>the brand promises to make 95% of its raw material traceable. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gucci has also introduced a line of gender-neutral accessories that is completely sustainable. The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gucci.com\/us\/en\/st\/capsule\/circular-line-off-the-grid\">Gucci Off The Grid collection<\/a><\/span> uses recycled, organic, bio-based and sustainably sourced materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prada<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/luxity.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/prada-renylon.jpeg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"71826\" data-full-url=\"https:\/\/luxity.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/prada-renylon.jpeg\" data-link=\"https:\/\/luxity.co.za\/?attachment_id=71826\" class=\"wp-image-71826\"\/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The original <a href=\"https:\/\/luxity.co.za\/product-category\/brands\/prada\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Prada<\/span><\/a> Nylon bags that had fashionistas swooning in the late &#8217;90s are now ethically sourced and sustainably made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pradagroup.com\/en\/sustainability\/environment-csr\/prada-re-nylon.html\">Re-Nylon collection<\/a><\/span> uses regenerated nylon, called ECONYL which is <strong>created from recycled plastic (collected from oceans and fishing nets) as well as discarded fabrics<\/strong>. This unisex collection includes a belt bag, shoulder bag, tote bags, a duffle and two other stylish re-nylon backpacks. To top it all off, <strong>Prada is donating a percentage of the proceeds to charities that contribute towards positive environmental impact. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Italian brand says, however, that they\u2019re not stopping there. By the end of the year, they intend to convert all Prada synthetic nylon into Re-Nylon and continue to build an environmentally conscious business going forth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Chlo\u00e9<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-3 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/luxity.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/chloe-sustainable.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"71827\" data-full-url=\"https:\/\/luxity.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/chloe-sustainable.jpg\" data-link=\"https:\/\/luxity.co.za\/?attachment_id=71827\" class=\"wp-image-71827\"\/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Another brand to jump on the (eco-friendly) bandwagon: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/luxity.co.za\/product-category\/brands\/chloe\/\">Chlo\u00e9<\/a><\/span> has hired a new creative director in 2020 that has her mind set on positive environmental and social change. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/luxiders.com\/gabriela-hearst-new-creative-director-of-chloe\/\">Luxiders<\/a>, <strong>Gabriela Hearst is known for her beautiful luxury designs but does not compromise when it comes to her values regarding the environment. <\/strong>In fact, her eponymous brand uses biodegradable TIPA packaging and is committed to being plastic-free and reducing waste in-store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What\u2019s more, her first collection for Chlo\u00e9 in 2020 was reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/fashionista.com\/2021\/03\/chloe-fall-2021-collection-gabriela-hearst\">4 times more sustainable<\/a> than ever before. The runway was lit with environmentally friendly and carbon-neutral fashion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, in March this year, the brand released a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chloe.com\/us\/chloe\/women\/subhome\/sustainability_section\">statement<\/a> which expressed that Chlo\u00e9 will <em>\u201cimprove social and environmental sustainability with greater transparency and accountability\u201d<\/em>, along with regular updates regarding the progress. As for their plans for the rest of the year, the brand stated that they will continuously work on their goals towards <em>\u201cFair &amp; Equal Opportunities; Fair Sourcing; Positive Impact on Communities; and Impact on the Planet.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stella McCartney<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-4 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/luxity.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/stella-mccartney.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"71828\" data-full-url=\"https:\/\/luxity.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/stella-mccartney.jpg\" data-link=\"https:\/\/luxity.co.za\/?attachment_id=71828\" class=\"wp-image-71828\"\/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides being the daughter of Paul McCartney, the co-leading vocalist and bassist for the Beatles, Stella has built her own legacy as a leading fashion designer. Not to mention, Stella is known for being an animal rights supporter, environmentalist and particularly for her use of vegan-friendly alternatives in designs. Babin says that the short-term goal was to save lives by preventing the coronavirus spread, but the end goal is still to accelerate the development of tests and contribute to the eradication of the virus in its entirety.
